Use of slang in the United Stated and Britain



Slang can be described as informal, nonstandard words or phrases (lexical innovations) which tend to originate in subcultures within a society. Slang often suggests that the person utilizing the words or phrases is familiar with the hearer's group or subgroup it can be considered a distinguishing factor of in-group identity. During the 18th century in E.E.U.U was not the correct usage of slang in English and was considered to be taboo, however it started to use to present popular works. Almost all of the slang words during this time were anatomical and well known all through Britain and in America due to the British colonists. Furthermore, certain events happened in the 18th century that helped the development of slang such as, Westward expansion, the Civil War, and the abolitionist movement. Foreign words are a common resource for the development of slang, as are regional variations of standard words. Some examples of slang are: What's up? ,Whatever, shorty, Stoked and many others.

  2. The english structure is important if people want to learn the ideom but its a form to people talk with someone. Costa Rica for example have many relations and influences of the EEUU and its important to know about this topic and if people practices includen slang going to talk very good.

  5. All the countries and sites around the world have different ways to speak and to communicate, for example the use of certain words in the English of England can switch to American English because the language is distorted or comes to have a more informal.
